Chaplaincy at Western

Chaplains are appointed to the university community by the official bodies of their own faith traditions. It is each chaplain's individual responsibility to represent their own beliefs within the university environment. Each of the Chaplains has their own individual perspective to share on their specific role at Western.

Chaplains are here to address the spiritual, religious, faith, and ethical needs of all those involved in the university, a unique place where many experience a radical change in their lives. These changes often involve questions around one's purpose in life.

For those from religious traditions not represented by Western chaplains, we can provide referrals to spiritual leaders and resources within their own tradition.

Our mission statement is:

to work within a diverse multi-faith context to
EMPOWER, ENABLE, ENCOURAGE and ENGAGE
the university in reflection on
SPIRITUAL, RELIGIOUS, FAITH, and ETHICAL issues
to foster commitment to and growth in community.
