Chaplaincy at Western

Chaplains are appointed to the university community by the official bodies of their own faith traditions. It is each chaplain's individual responsibility to represent their own beliefs within the university environment. Each of the Chaplains has their own individual perspective to share on their specific role at Western.

Chaplains are here to address the spiritual, religious, faith, and ethical needs of those involved in the university, a unique place where many experience a radical change in their lives. These changes often involve questions around one's purpose in life.

For those from religious traditions not represented by Western chaplains, we can provide referrals to spiritual leaders and resources within their own tradition.

The Chaplains office is located in the basement of the University Community Centre, right below the Spoke and next to the daycare, in room 38B. The Muslim Prayer Room is located right next door in room 38A. From ground level, the quickest way to find us is to use the stairway just outside the Spoke and across from the main entrance to the Weldon library.

The Chaplains office also has meeting space available for student groups to meet for prayer, worship, and discussion. To request use of space, stop by our office or email us.

Our mission statement is:

Chaplains work within a diverse multi-faith context to
the university in reflection on
to foster commitment to and growth in community.
